Dressing up in Summers can often be nightmarish for people like us, thronging the tropics of the Earth. Specially for outings during the day, even the thought of heavy clothes and chunky, metal jewellery is a blooper. From metal rashes, to melting makeup and from sweaty underarms to synthetics sticking to the body, summers can be cruel in more ways than one.
So we decided to add a little zing to our Summer basics and create some easy, breezy summer-friendly looks. The motto being: To dress-up without breaking into a sweat, literally 😎
While I wore a basic, neutral coloured, cotton asymmetrical vest over a pair of denim shorts, Devlina wore a crisp, cotton shirt in white with indigo print half pants in cotton. And with that we made minute tweaks to create four different looks each.
The idea was to focus of bright accessories, thus diverting the attention away from the otherwise drab and basic clothing. Summer calls for big, badass Sunglasses, bright Scarves and Bandanas and a hoarde of other fun accessories, so why not experiment with them?
For the first look, I put a dash of green with a big, round bindi, a bigger, blingier bag and an elaborate, fabric neckpiece.
For the next, I just threw in a dress, kantha scarf and added a colourful bun pin to my pony.
For the third I added a front-open, cotton jacket reaching till my knees and letting my body breathe amply.
For the final look I added splashes of chirpy, summer colours of yellow and orange, with a loose fitting, bright, summery linen shirt in yellow checks and a sunglass with neon-orange rims.
On the other hand Devlina’s first look had a statement fabric neckpiece, a Taxi printed canvas tote, with pretty little midi-rings in silver and turquoise to bring in the Phoebe-like funk.
For her second look, she wore a simple half sleeve indigo print jacket with the white shirt. The colour coordinated zari chappal adding that bit of desi-ness to her look.
For her final look, she just threw in a square scarf with pretty pompoms to add quirk and style to the white shirt.
So this was our Blong Twist to our basic summer staples. Tell us how you liked it and share your summer secrets!
And yes, here are the three basic summer reminders, we all know but often forget.
Reminder 1: Stick to comfortable fabrics.
Reminder 2: Steer clear of Darker shades.
Reminder 3: Show some skin, it’s summer after all😎
Happy Summers!
