Pujo Parikrama- Kolkata (South)

While traditionally ‘Parikrama’ means circumambulation, of a sacred place, Pujo Parikrama, especially in Kolkata, translates to sheer madness! Thanks to the ever growing popularity of ‘Theme Pujos’, the Pujos are now almost a week long carnival (or may be even more), and we try our best to squeeze in as much as we can in this time !

You may hire a car, or a bus, you may take an auto, a hand-pulled rikshaw, or you may just rely on your feet – but ticking off Ekdalia and Bagbazar off the list remains a mandatory custom 🙂

Talk of the town, the 72 feet Durga Idol stands tall in Desapriya Park. Due to unprecedented and overcrowding, the Pandal had to be closed; and the entire fringe of south Kolkata was sealed off from Panchami evening
